Summary

Feeltrace is a tool to record the perceived emotional content of a time-dependent stimulus (such as speech). Feeltrace is a software tool designed to collect self-report from observers watching the stimulus to be evaluated.

Description

The participants in a test or experiment use a computer to continuously report the emotion they perceive. They can move a cursor in a space defined by two dimensions, activation (from very passive to very active) and evaluation (from very negative to very positive).

Weaknesses

Feeltrace has been developed and used to measure expressed emotion. It is not completely clear how it would work in research on experienced emotion.
